Access Park County Recorder Records

The Park County Clerk and Recorder handles recorded documents, marriage and civil union licensing, elections, motor vehicle services, liquor licenses, county board proceedings, and local recording services. A Park County Clerk and Recorder records search is different from a court case search. Court pleadings, divorce decrees, criminal case files, probate filings, dockets, and certified court copies go to the judicial Clerk of Court. Recorded deeds, liens, plats when available, marriage licenses, and county public-record requests follow the county office process.

Park County uses a split clerk model. The Park County Clerk of Court handles case files, docket questions, certified court documents, transcripts, court copies, probate filings, and ROA requests for District Court and County Court. The Clerk and Recorder handles recorded instruments and county administrative records. This split is the main routing rule for users who are trying to find public records in Park County.

Park County Recorded Documents

The Park County Recordings page says documents may be submitted in the Fairplay office with fees during normal office hours or mailed with fees to P.O. Box 220, Fairplay, CO 80440. The office does not provide legal advice about documents and does not supply forms. It also says the office does not do research for the public, although public computers are available in the Fairplay office.

Documents submitted for recording must meet the margin requirements cited by the county. The top margin must be at least one inch, and the left, right, and bottom margins must be at least one-half inch. • Use public computers in the Fairplay office for self-directed research.
  • Use online recorded document search when the record is covered by iCounty.
  • Contact an attorney or document preparer for legal advice or forms.

Marriage and civil union licensing is a Clerk and Recorder function. Park County licenses are issued at the Fairplay office by appointment only, Monday through Thursday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The completed application and copies of photo IDs must be emailed before scheduling. Once the office receives the information, it contacts the applicants to schedule. Questions use 719-836-4223.

The license fee is published as $30, while the appointment page says $31.25 for the license fee and certified copy, paid by cash or credit only with no checks. Both parties must apply in person unless an absentee affidavit is used. A Colorado marriage license is valid when received and must be used within 35 days in Colorado. The certificate must be returned to the Clerk and Recorder within 60 days after solemnization to avoid late fees.

Elections and Motor Vehicle Services

Research identifies elections, voter services, motor vehicle titling and registration, liquor licenses, Board of County Commissioners proceedings, and Property Alert Notifications as Clerk and Recorder responsibilities. These services should be treated at a high level for record-search purposes. They may explain why a person is sent to the Clerk and Recorder, but they are not court records and they do not replace court, sheriff, DMV, or judicial payment systems.

For driving records, license status, points, or suspensions, use Colorado DMV and myDMV resources. For court traffic tickets, use Park County Combined Court, Fairplay Municipal Court, or Colorado Judicial Online Payments depending on the citation. For county election or motor vehicle office questions, start with the Clerk and Recorder's official county page.

Note: Court files go to the Clerk of Court even when a related deed, license, or county record is available from the Clerk and Recorder.
